The 78th Training Division (Operations) ("Lightning"〔) is a unit of the United States Army which served in World War I and World War II as the 78th Infantry Division, and currently trains and evaluates units of the United States Army Reserve for deployment. Hollywood Director Mel Brooks served in this division in the Second World War.

*Reconstituted 24 June 1921 in the Organized Reserves as Headquarters, 78th Division
*Organized in November 1921 at Newark, New Jersey
*Redesignated 20 February 1942 as Division Headquarters, 78th Division
*Ordered into active military service 15 August 1942 and reorganized at Camp Butner, North Carolina; concurrently redesignated as Headquarters, 78th Infantry Division
